And the idea that treadmills can now be rented, as well, means that you do not look at a life-long commitment of buying one, and accomodating a permanent space for the equipment! It’s Softer on the Joints
Many longterm runners complain of having joint problems. The reason is because running is very high impact and when you’re putting several miles down a day or week, your joints get strained and worn out because of the impact of your body and weight on the hard ground.
Treadmills are designed to combat this. They’re built to support your weight and bear the impact of your step so that there is as little impact on the knees and your other joints and muscles as possible.
If you’re wanting to run, but have had concerns about the impact on your body, start on the treadmill and see how you feel. Take it slow, gradually increase, and never go faster than your body is comfortable doing.
You Don’t Have to Turn
Running tracks are generally okay to run on. That’s why people have been doing it for years, but depending on the size of the track, they can be really hard on your knees because of the turns you’re forced to make every time you complete a lap. With treadmills you cut out this factor all together. You only have to focus on putting one foot in front of the other. On the track, there is just more chance of you wearing out your body faster, and who wants that?
You Can Have It At Home
Rain or shine, snow or hail, treadmills are amazing because you can have them in your home. If you buy a treadmill, this cuts the need to spend money every month on a gym membership. Not only are you spending money on a membership, you’re also paying for gas to get to the gym and back. Why not just make it easy on yourself and have a treadmill at home so that you can work out whenever you want, no matter what the weather looks like? Running tracks don’t allow you access to a dry, supported, straight line to health like treadmills do. Use them. They’re a great asset.
